Eddie Reese has been the head coach of the Texas Longhorns men’s swimming and diving team since 1978. He has developed 54 NCAA individual champions, 41 national champion relays, 219 All-Americans and 29 Olympians who have won 39 gold medals, 16 silver medals and eight bronze medals. Some of Reese’s top swimmers have included Brendan Hanson, Aaron Peirsol, Ricky Berens, Jimmy Feigen, Christian Schurr, Scott Spann, Dave Walters, Garrett Weber-Gale, Nathan O’Brien, Ian Crocker, Josh Davis, Gary Hall Jr, Nate Dusing, Neil Walker, Scott Goldblatt, Brad Bridgewater, Rick Carey, Hans Dersch, Tommy Hannan, Jamie Rauch, Shaun Jordan, Kirk Stackle, Clay Britt, and Chris Jacobs. Reese was named head men’s swimming coach for the 2008 U.S. Olympic men’s swimming team in September of 2006. 1991, 2005, 2006 and 2009 ASCA Coach of the Year, an eight-time NCAA Coach of the Year and three-time United States Men’s Olympic Team head coach, Reese has led Texas to 17 NCAA team titles, 11 NCAA runner-up finishes, and 29 top-three finishes at NCAA Championships during his 37 seasons in Austin.
