Two Courses will Be Offered
November 15: The Planning and Execution of Training for Swimmers of Ages. (ASCA Level 3 Physiology Course)
Level 3 is a full day course, meaning 9 am to 5 pm.
The first half of the course is about the principles of training and the second half is about writing and running a workout.
All Coaches can take this course – There are NO prerequisites.
To be ASCA Certified at Level 3 coaches must also meet the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications – but they can take the course.
November 16: The Certified Stroke Technician Course
This is a basic version of the Level 2 Stroke School course and designed for the coach who is working with very novice swimmers or advanced learn to swim students. There is a test and a Certificate is awarded upon completion of the test. The course is 3-4 hours of classroom followed by a pool session of 2 hours divided up into 4 20 minute segments with 10 minutes between sessions for discussion. We will demonstrate the teaching progression and drills for each stroke. We will use young swimming students for the demonstrations

Friday, Nov 15, Day 1. 2 PM to 5 PM How to Write Workouts
Saturday, Nov 16, Day 2. 9 AM to noon: Certified Stroke Technician classroom
Saturday, Nov 16, Day 2. 1 PM to 3 PM: Pool Sessions
Saturday, Nov 16, Day 2. 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM: Questions and Answers. Ask me ANYTHING. I will stay as long as it takes.
The courses are taught by American Swimming Coaches Association’s Guy Edson. Guy has been teaching these courses for 31 years plus he has been and is still coaching children every day for the past 45 years. In the past his teams have won multiple state championships and dozens of his swimmers have been ranked in the top 25 in the US. He is a Level 5 ASCA Certified coach. He loves to coach and he loves to help other coaches. He brings energy and excitement and enthusiasm to every class.
