Dryland Training for Swimmers of all Ages
This ASCA course will show the coach how to set up age and ability appropriate dryland training routines for novice swimmers through intermediate swimmers, through advanced age group swimmers, and on to senior swimmers.
1. how to improve balance, coordination, rhythm, core strength and stability for swimmers of all ages,
2. proper and improper flexibility exercises for swimming,
3. Improving strength and power for more mature and advanced swimmers,
4. and setting up a variety of circuit programs for groups of swimmers.
This will be both a PowerPoint presentation with dozens of pictures and dozens of video clips showing you specific exercises for your swim team and live demonstrations.
Several complete circuit programs will be detailed from top to bottom. You will receive a 70 page manual plus handouts with all the PowerPoint notes and complete circuit programs, and a CD with over an hour of dryland video clips.
This course is NOT about the thousands of exercise descriptions readily available in books, dvd’s and on line. You can find that stuff everywhere. We want to present an intelligent program beginning with an explicit philosophy of dryland training for the different age groups. We want to understand the differences between coordination, balance, core, power, and strength routines and when each is appropriate. You’re going to come away with many practical and philosophical ideas.
This course has been thoroughly researched, experienced, and taught by ASCA Technical Director Guy Edson who is actually running a dryland training program for an age group team.
This course is open to ALL coaches. No previous ASCA courses are required. Coaches will receive a certificate of attendance.
