Job Description:

Position Summary:

Charger Aquatics is seeking an experienced, dynamic and positive individual for the position of Head Age Group Coach. This position is responsible for oversight of the Age Group Program, Lead Coach for the Age Group 1 and Age Group 2 practice groups, as well as performing administrative duties. The Head Age Group Coach will also provide oversight of all Lifeguard needs for the Natatorium, as well as Summer Aquatics Programming.

Essential Functions:

Coaching

  • Act as the Primary Coach for the Age Group 1 and Age Group 2 practice groups
  • Supervise Age Group Program coaching staff in coordination with the CAQ Head Coach
  • Establish a positive practice environment, while teaching self-discipline, dedication and responsibility
  • Develop and maintain seasonal and quadrennial training plans for the Age Group Program
  • Design and implement a framework for swimmer development through the Age Group Program
  • Attend all swim meets according to Competition Schedule set by CAQ Head Coach
  • Assist/Substitute with other practice groups as needed

Administration

  • Act as Team Registrar for CAQ, performing all necessary registration for the team
  • Field phone calls and emails regarding CAQ programming
  • Maintain and update website as necessary
  • Perform monthly billing for CAQ programming through FACTS software
  • Coordinate and schedule CAQ team tryouts and waiting list
  • Act as CAQ Team Representative to NM Swimming House of Delegates

Lifeguarding/Summer Aquatics Programming

Lifeguard

  • Manages all aspects of Red Cross lifeguard certification
  • Trains, Hires, and maintains a population of lifeguards for facility
  • Performs scheduling of lifeguards for all facility needs
  • Performs payroll for lifeguard staff
  • Coordinates AA Varsity Lifeguard needs in addition to CAQ

Summer Aquatics Programming

  • Coordinate Summer Aquatics programming in the Natatorium (i.e. swim lessons, Pre-Team, ThinkSummer pool usage)
  • Supervise Summer Aquatics programming Staff
  • Coordinate the Registration process for Summer Aquatics programming

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
  • Current Coach Membership with USA Swimming Required
  • ASCA Level 3 Preferred, ASCA Membership Required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand new software applications
  • Strong knowledge of Google software (Sheets, Docs, Forms, etc)
  • Knowledge of database management software for CAQ data
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting software (Senior Systems ideally)
  • Familiarity with TeamUnify website development software
  • Familiarity with online commercial banking software for credit card reconciliation

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience coaching 12 & Under Athletes
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience is required
  • Prior experience managing an aquatics or similar athletic program is desired
  • Prior experience in accounting, payroll, and account reconciliation is desired

Charger Aquatics is a two-time Silver Medal Club in 2020 and 2021, and a three-time Bronze Medal Club. CAQ has won consecutive State Championships since Summer 2011.
